I have added many skills to my communication toolbox during my college experience. The adage “Just because the message is sent, doesn’t mean it is received” has taken on a deeper meaning as a result of my education.  One of my greatest realizations is that different groups can interpret the same message in very different ways depending on the phrasing of that message. The lesson for me was that we need to fit the communication and style of collaboration to the needs of those we are working with to ensure that the intended message is accurately received. One of the ways I have learned to be more effective in sending that message is through my work with theater groups. The core message remains the same, but the delivery of that message needs to be adapted and modified to connect with the person receiving it.
